Sony KV-2185MT
Color CRT from the early 90s
The Sony KV-2185MT is about 20 inches in size and dates back to the early 90s. It features mono audio and composite inputs on both the front and back. While this model is relatively uncommon in North America, it works well when connected to a 120V outlet.
Unfortunately, the G3E chassis is not easily moddable for RGB. I attempted to tap into the green OSD line, which connects to the neckboard via a transistor and a 220-ohm resistor, but I couldn't get a picture to display. Without RGB input support on the chroma IC, modifying this set for RGB can be quite challenging.
On the plus side, the set has internal isolation, meaning all mods performed on the cold side of the chassis should be isolated from the mains. It’s also likely possible to mod it for S-Video, though I haven’t tried that with this particular set.
